Nestled in the mountains near the French border, Hostal Mendaurpe offers a tranquil retreat with breathtaking views of the valley below. the spacious triple room we stayed in was cozy, boasting comfortable beds and a picturesque mountain view from the balcony. the homemade cuisine made with fresh produce from their own orchard was a true delight, complemented by the daily buffet breakfast featuring a wide variety of delicious options. The warm hospitality of the hosts, despite our language barrier, created a welcoming atmosphere filled with laughter and joy. the evening menu del día, inclusive of wine, water, and bread, was not only delectable but also reasonably priced. the peaceful silence of the night, coupled with the refreshing mountain air, made for a rejuvenating stay. Exploring the surrounding walking trails and enjoying the terrace with a cup of coffee in hand added to the serenity of our experience. the amenities, including the flat-screen TV, private bathroom, and tea/coffee maker in the room, ensured a comfortable stay. Hostal Mendaurpe truly offers a blend of natural beauty, culinary delights, and warm hospitality, making it a memorable destination for a peaceful getaway near San Sebastian.
